There are many ways to help out in our classroom throughout the school year. The PTC will be organizing Room Parent Volunteers early into the school year. There are a few events held during the school year in our room that parents are able to participate in, assisting Room Parents. These events are :
Halloween party
Winter Party
Valentine's Party
Writing Publishing Celebrations
End of the year gathering
Field trip support
Once Room Parents have been assigned , please contact one of them to sign up to help out !
I would request that you wait to come in to help in our classroom until classroom routines are firmly established and a sense of community is also present (usually by mid October these things are in place).
Additional volunteer opportunities are :
Guest Reader: Come in and read your favorite picture book to our class. I can provide a book for you if needed! Once those classroom routines are set, this is an excellent opportunity for you to be in our classroom and share your love of literature.
Share a cultural or family tradition or a hobby or skill: Do you like to make paper airplanes? Are you skilled at origami? Do you play a musical instrument, know about plants or bugs? First graders love to learn new things and they also love seeing a familiar face. So, get in touch with me if you want to share a bit of yourself with my students.
I would allow about 15 - 20 minutes for Guest Reading and sharing a hobby.
*Prior to assisting in our classroom, you must fill out a CORI form, obtained at the Front Office*
